Meet Project #2. (Oh, yes, there is a #3 as well, but I don’t want to become fodder for an intervention so, I’m keeping that on the down-low.)

Say “hello” to Moda’s Bobbins and Bits. Hand dyed and machine dyed. Yep, yep.

The inspiration came from this quilt.

Yes, I spend copious amounts of time in Pinterest.

Yes, I spend copious amounts of time in Pinterest. I’m not proud, but, I am often inspired.

I would love to give credit where credit is due for this little beauty, but the link from this Pinterest pin went to one of those weird “this-page-has-nothing-to-do-with-the-picture” places. Just love that, don’t you?

This is the quilt that I will work on during the month of March for Shanna’s of Fiber of All Sorts, “A Lovely Year of Finishes”.

Seriously, cat? You gotta lay there?

Instead of using the  more subtle palette from the quilt that inspired Project #2, I opted for some bold color. More specifically, a reason to employ my new favorite color– orange. I’m normally a color wimp, but, weirdly enough, I’m strangely into orange these days. Maybe it’s because First and Second are up at Oklahoma State University spending my money getting educated.

Or maybe it’s because this new season in my life is making me just a tad bawdy. I’m not sure.

Either way, orange is a great color, and I love what it adds to this quilt. It was Second’s favorite color for a long time.

It’s also a color that you have to be deliberate about. I mean, you can knock around in a red shirt and no one says much. Red pants will get you a few head turns, but it’s still not shock and awe material. But step out in an orange dress and it’s whiplash city behind you. It’s that kind of color. You wear it deliberately. And you quilt with it deliberately as well. It’s not for wimps…like my former self.

It’s also the color of fall.

And it’s a happy color. Frank said so.

Orange-Quote

Speaking of happy colors and giving credit where credit is due, I would be remiss if I didn’t explain the “Happy Day” at the end of my posts.

You see, it’s like this…

If you pilfer a saying from someone and make it your own, there are protocols you must follow.

The first time you use it you say, “I’ve heard it said, _________________”

The second and third time you use it you say, “A wise woman once said, _______________”

After that you can safely say, “As I always say, ______________”. Now you can freely use it with no pre-ramble whatsoever.

That being said (and meticulously followed, thank you), my wise friend, Linda, is a walking Happy Day. Seriously, if sunshine and smiles could be embodied in one woman, it would be her. She ends her texts and emails with that sunny “Happy Day” and it just makes my day, well…happier. I love her. She is the epitome of sweet.

And since I admire her so much, and since I followed protocol, I pilfered her “Happy Day” and made it my own. Imitation IS the sincerest form of flattery, right?

So, without further adieu,

Happy Day!
